The outdoor area of the J.J. Jackson Museum is made up of several components. One of which is a large building referred to as the Barn. This houses antique farm equipment, buggies, wagons, the restored Weaverville-Redding stage and a sled that substituted for the passenger and mail stage during extremely inclement weather. Also displayed are one-cylinder gas engines, wood sawing equipment, a section of a Chinese adobe-building wall, and an old Linotype used for early printing jobs.

A lean-to addition to the Barn stores hundreds of Trinity County memorabilia awaiting future display, restoration or just aging in the process.
