JAKE JACKSON MUSEUM & HISTORY CENTER

The museum gift shop is located beside our main exhibit area on the first floor. The gift shop offers a wide variety of items such as books, including some for children, old-fashioned cookbooks, and local books.  Children’s toys, homemade jams and jellies, gold panning kits, blacksmith items, note cards, jewelry, telephone wire insulators, Limited Edition Christmas Ornaments and other treasurers make up the remainder of our gift shop items.

BOOKS

From the Known to the Unknown- An aristocratic young French couple trade a peaceful and secure life in 1892 for an unknown one on the western frontier of America.  Their search for a worthy enterprise in which to invest their time and money led them to the gold fields of Trinity County in California.  In this book Baroness de LaGrange recalls her adventures in the development of the famous LaGrange Mine.   $15.00 - Historical Society Pub. Flowers & Trees of the Trinity Alps- A collection of 332 photos of flowers & trees growing in Trinity Alps and adjacent areas of the Klamath Mountains of Northwestern California.  A descriptive text is provided for each species.  Written by Alice Goen Jones, a botanist and forester who has lived in Trinity County since 1950.  $39.95 - Historical Society Pub. Historic Sites of Trinity County - Covers 471 sites and includes 272 photographs.  Indexing has been included so the book may be easily used as a reference source.  In this book an attempt has been made to cover all historic sites in Trinity County, bringing together in one place the history of these places as recorded or remembered by old-timers whose fathers or grandfathers were among the county's earliest settlers.  $29.95- Historical Society Pub. Tales of the Trinity - The story of Major Horace Bell, adventurer, iconoclast and prominent citizen of early California.  Bell writes of his recollection of events that had occurred in Trinity County in the period between October 1879 and February 1880.  He had been a very young man at the time, having arrived in Trinity County as the youngest member of a gold seeking party.  $16.95 (hardcover-signed by the editor), $5.95 (softcover-unsigned) - Historical Society Pub. Tales of the Mountaineer - A compilation of stories written by J.J. Jackson who became known as Trinity County's unofficial historian.  The stories were written by "Jake" as a member of the Rotary Club of Weaverville for publication in the club's weekly bulletin, "The Mountaineer".  The first story was dated 9/15/41 and last 7/10/50.  $12.50 Historical Society Pub.

Traveling the Trinity Highway - A photo-packed scenic guide beginning in Redding, California to Eureka along Highway 299.  Contains descriptive information about this regions dazzling mountain and river country.  $19.95 (Soft cover) (246 pages).

ENVELOPES

Cacheted covers prepared by the Trintity county Historical Society to commemorate the maiden appearance of the restored Redding-Weaverville stage in the 1997 annual Fourth of July parade.  The stagecoach stamp, America's first triangular stamp design, was sold and cancellations applied.  The stage and team designs are based upon a photo in the Society's files.  The stage route is based upon old maps from the society's collections.  The commemorative cancellation was applied by the Weaverville Post Office during July 1997.  Price $2.50- (7 1/2"- small) and $3.00- (9 1/2" - large).  A history of the Redding-Weaverville stage is included.  More information can be found in the 1997 publication of the TRINITY.
